Prevention, Outreach and Education (POE) Dashboard
Through the Prevention, Outreach and Education (POE) dashboard, users are able to explore data around the required RVSM & Title IX prevention and education programming at MSU. Specifically, users can explore how many members of the MSU community have completed required trainings over the year by each program and filter those numbers by the population (undergraduate students, graduate and professional students and employees).
If you would like to provide us feedback or ask questions on these dashboards or any other aspect of OCR’s supports and services, please complete the OCR Feedback Form.

Dashboard Glossary
Bystander Network Program (2nd Year Students) – Required training for all second-year students that explores the ways they can be active bystanders to create a safer community, free of harm and harassment. Bystander Network is delivered in-person and allows students to interact with Peer Educators and explore intervention options for various scenarios and topic matters related to bystander intervention. The program also reinforces and builds upon first-year training through refresher components, while covering ways to support survivors and hold each other accountable.
Health Care Training – An annual training for health care employees identified by MSU Health Care, Inc and covers topics such as the University’s Relationship Violence and Sexual Misconduct & Title IX Policy, University Reporting Protocol, and resources to support survivors.
Online Training - Employees – All faculty and staff are required to complete an online RVSM-prevention training program within 30 days of hire and biennially thereafter. The online employee RVSM-prevention course covers both Clery Act and Title IX requirements, providing direct links to the full MSU RVSM and Title IX Policy as well as the Mandatory Reporting Policy. Further, the training includes information for campus support resources. In addition to compliance content, the training emphasizes building healthy relationships, recognizing unhealthy dynamics, and fostering a supportive campus culture.
Online Training - Graduate & Professional Graduate and professional students are required to participate in an online RVSM-prevention training program upon beginning their program and biennially thereafter. This training provides a critical base understanding for recognizing and responding to sexual and relationship violence, provides links to the full RVSM and Title IX and Mandatory Reporting policies, safe and positive options for intervention, strategies for supporting survivors, reporting options, explaining confidential resources, and the importance of consent in building and maintaining healthy relationships.

Refresher Online Module (3rd Year + Students) – Required annual online programming for third- and fourth-year undergraduate students that builds on previous sexual assault prevention training. Through these modules, students strengthen their ability to intervene when friends engage in unsafe or unhealthy behavior, and to intervene earlier -- before a situation escalates. Students explore the relationships between identity and bystander intervention to decrease individual barriers to taking action. Students also review the MSU RVSM & Title IX policy, understanding of consent, and how to support survivors of relationship violence, sexual misconduct and stalking.
SARV Prevention Program (1st Year & Transfer Students) – Required training for all students in their first year at MSU (including transfers students). The SARV prevention workshop defines gender-based violence, explains university policies and resources available on campus and in the surrounding community. This workshop defines various components of the MSU RVSM and Title IX policy and discusses ways to intervene and begin changing the culture to help create a violence-free community.
Spartans Against Violence (SAV) Athletics Training – Required program focused on educating and empowering Spartan student-athletes and athletics department staff to prevent sexual misconduct, relationship violence, and stalking. The program follows guidance and requirements by the NCAA Prevention Checklist (3rd Edition) to have coaches, college athletes, and athletic administrators complete education each year in sexual violence prevention. All participants, including coaches, athletic trainers, strength and conditioning staff, and student-athlete mentors/tutors receive training on MSU’s RVSM & Title IX Policy, including how to report violations of MSU’s RVSM & Title IX Policy, confidential resources, and how to support survivors. Student-athletes receive two 90-minute training sessions over the course of the academic year. The required session for students defines gender-based violence, discusses the MSU RVSM & Title IX Policy and the Anti-Discrimination Policy, reporting, supporting and bystander intervention.

Notes
- The number of participants is based on participation in POE required training between May 15, 2024, and May 14, 2025.
- As employees and graduate and professional students are required to complete trainings only a biennial, 100% completion for those groups is not intended.
- The population totals for students and employees are point-in-time counts of students enrolled and individuals employed, respectively, at the time of measuring (fall 2024). These numbers fluctuate through both attrition and new enrollment/hiring throughout the academic year. As the required programs offered by POE occur throughout the year, any proportion/percentage of the total population participating is approximate due to those fluctuations.
